(October 2023) Finding the Right Therapist

This workshop is meant to help individuals and families identify strategies for finding the “right” therapist for them. While there is no “perfect” therapist, sometimes it can be a little difficult finding a good fit in a relationship with a therapist. This workshop will be dive into common question is such as:

“What are the different types of therapists?”
“What do all those letters behind a person’s license/name mean?”
“What are some different types of therapy?”
“What are the different goals and modalities of therapy that may be useful for adoptive/foster families?”, etc.

This workshop will also be much more interactive for attendees so feel free to bring any questions or concerns to the workshop.

Brandon Jensen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Board Approved Supervisor, an Adjunct Professor, a Prepare/Enrich Seminar Director, and a Permanency and Adoption Competent Clinician. Brandon provides therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He has completed training through the University of Minnesota Permanency and Adoption Competency Certificate program to specialize in working with pre and post adopted individuals and families. Brandon uses a strength-based approach, empowering individuals, couples, and families to improve their lives.

Jenny Peterson is a licensed marriage and family therapist with extensive experience working with individuals and families. Jenny utilizes a systemic approach to connect and empathize with individuals and families across a variety of cultures, ethnicities, and worldviews. Jenny’s intuition, care, professionalism, connection, expertise, humor, and empathy have led her to be involved in community growth and engagement far beyond her therapy office as well. Jenny has had the opportunity to be a guest speaker, community development leader, youth development leader, and podcast co-host just to name a few of her other experiences.
