About the 5k

We are raising funds for the Back-to-School Shopping Event and awareness for the need for families for kids in foster care.

Ways you can help:

Run or walk!
Show up and learn more about adoption and foster care.
Bring a friend and/or family member to join you!

We will have food, games, a playground, yard games, and a photographer to take your family picture! There will also be a variety of resource tables to provide information about becoming a foster parent, supports & other topics of interest to adoptive, foster and kinship families.

So, come walk your dog, push your stroller, or run through a 5K with us. It’s a great way to be active with your family while supporting Minnesota kids in foster care.

I can’t make it to the 5K. How do I donate by check?

Answers to some frequently asked questions

I have already registered. What if I need to register another child?
Email us at 5K@fosteradoptmn.org and we can get them added!

I already registered and I need to add another adult to my registration. Can I still add them?
They can register themselves by going to ADD IN LINK TO 5K WEBPAGE

What time does the race begin?
The kids race begins at 10 am and the 5K begins at 10:30 am.

Can I walk the 5K?
Yes! Our 5K is open to runners and walkers.

Can I walk with a stroller?
Yes!

Can I bring my dog?
Yes, all well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Is the 5K chip timed?
No, our 5K is not chip timed.

I have questions about the kids races.

There is no age minimum; all ages are welcome and encouraged to join.
Parents can accompany their child/ren in the kids race.
We highly recommend parents run with children ages 6 and under.

How do I edit my registration and switch to virtual?
Email us at 5K@fosteradoptmn.org and we can switch this for you and ship your t-shirts to you.

What is the weather policy?

FAM 5K will take place rain or shine. Foster Adopt Minnesota reserves the right to cancel the 5K due to severe or extreme weather for participant and volunteer safety.
All severe/extreme weather updates will be posted to FAM’s social media pages and an email will be sent to participants by 7 am the day of the event.
In the event of a cancellation, refund of registration fees will not be possible.
