Briana Colton (she/her) is a mission-driven explorer, connector, and healer. Briana has a Masters’ degree in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy from Adler University-Chicago and a post-graduate certificate in Permanency and Adoption Competency from the University of Minnesota. She is trained in Anchored Relational Therapy and is a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and Board-Approved clinical supervisor.

As an adoption-competent therapist, Briana’s passions include cultivating a safe, stable, and connecting environment for individuals and families to process the various emotions, changes, and needs that come with moving through foster care and/or adoption processes. Briana brings her art therapy lens and the creative process to help clients and families achieve insight and facilitate change in their own lives. Her deep knowledge of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and caregiver burnout informs her approach to therapy and training, helping her create and build resources, trainings, and communities to reduce long-term impacts of collective and cumulative stress and trauma. Briana is also active in legislative and advocacy spaces, helping to reduce stigma against mental health by normalizing the therapeutic process and advocating for greater access through outreach and legislation.

Briana’s time away from work includes solo and community pursuits such as craft projects, yoga and dance classes, cheering on the MN Lynx, and attending live theater and orchestra performances.
