Laughing is one of the healthiest things one can do when facing the deep stresses, tensions, and pains of everyday life and parenting in particular. This workshop will highlight how one can bring more laughter into both one’s home life and life in general while making the case this is an essential ingredient in preventing parent burnout for those raising even the most difficult of children.

Pat O’Brien is the Executive Director of the Adoptive & Foster Family Coalition of New York, after recently serving for 2.5 years as the Director of the Coalition’s post adoption program called AGAPE in both Long Island and Rockland County. Pat is the Founder and former CEO of You Gotta Believe! The Older Child Adoption & Permanency Movement, Inc., a nationally acclaimed homeless prevention program that finds adoptive and permanent parents and families for teens, and young adults on the verge of aging out of the foster care system. Prior to starting his work with the Coalition, Pat finished a 29-month commitment as a recruiter for Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, with Klingberg Family Centers in New Britain, Connecticut. Pat currently produces and hosts the Coalition’s weekly radio broadcast/podcast “After the Kids Move In”, which airs live every Sunday evening from 6:30-7 p.m. on WGBB radio 1240 AM on Long Island.
