I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University. I have more than 10 years experience working with children and families with diverse needs and backgrounds, including adoptive/foster/kinship families. I have significant experience diagnosing and treating mental health issues in children from birth to age six. My practice includes children up to 8 years old. I have a passion for working with young children and families who are experiencing issues with anxiety, attachment, trauma, and behavior.
Your child, and your family, may have endured difficult experiences in life. Together, we will work through unresolved issues, process them, and begin to move forward. I offer a gentle and compassionate heart to my clients using an integrative approach of play-based therapies grounded in child development, attachment theory, and family systems theory. I have extensive training in infant and early childhood mental health, including diagnosing children birth to age six, Trauma Informed Child Parent Psychotherapy (TI-CPP), Experiential Play Therapy (EPT), and Conscious Discipline. Together with parents, I explore the meaning of your child’s behavior. We will use a variety of play-based interventions designed to address your child’s needs and help them achieve healing in a developmentally appropriate way.
Because caregivers are essential to the development of young children, my work focuses on supporting caregivers. In addition to understanding your child’s experience, I want to be able to understand and support your experience as a parent. While parenting can bring joy and delight it can also bring demands, challenges, frustrations, and uncertainty. This can be especially true and complex for Adoptive/Foster/Kinship Parents. My goal is to join with you in navigating these difficulties, as well as celebrating the successes. I offer parents a variety of approaches, tools, and language that will support your child’s needs in the home and community.
