I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with more than 10 years experience working with adults, children, and families with diverse needs and backgrounds, with significant experience diagnosing and treating mental health issues in young children. My specialties include adults struggling with parenting issues, attachment issues, life transitions, issues of self esteem, depression and anxiety, or past trauma. I also specialize in working with children and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, fostering and/or adoption.
I am very relationally focused in my work. I strive to provide a safe, supportive space for you to feel seen and heard. I generally believe everyone is doing the best they can in any given moment and that stressors, whether small or large, can impact what that looks like. Creating understanding and compassion for this can allow one to integrate their experiences and allow for healing. While exploring emotions and relational patterns, I integrate information about current neuro-research that helps make sense of different reactions and/or stuck patterns. Together, we will work through unresolved issues, process them, and begin to move forward.
I utilize non-directive play therapy models when working with children. This allows the child to process their experiences and emotions in a developmentally appropriate way. Through therapeutic play children gain a sense of empowerment and mastery over challenges in their lives. Parents and/or caregivers are also an important part of the therapeutic process with children. I seek to understand parents’ or caregivers’ experiences of parenting your child and partner with you to better understand your child’s behavior, as well as offer parenting support and evidenced based strategies as you navigate the challenges that brought your family to therapy.
