Description
(May 2021) Collective Experiences and a Deeper Understanding of Racial Identity-Part 1
With so many elements of our lives shifting and changing due to Covid-19, we have a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of some of the most important and challenging aspects of our modern lives. Through a rich and very personal lens, nationally recognized thought leader and transracially-adopted person, April Dinwoodie, will candidly explore how our current shared experiences of trauma, lack of power and control, moving with precision, loss, and family separation can be a gateway to even more empathy, enlightenment, and love. This session is open to all and aims to be a respectful and transformational space for all who attend.
After a successful career in corporate marketing, branding, and PR and a lifetime of navigating complex situations and circumstances as a transracially adopted person, April is devoted to elevating our collective experiences of shared humanity.
Dinwoodie’s podcast Born in June, Raised in April: What Adoption Can Teach the World! helps facilitate an open dialogue about identity, relationships, and differences of race, class, and culture. April is the former Chief Executive of the Donaldson Adoption Institute and the founder of AdoptMent, a mentoring program that matches foster youth with adopted adults. April consults with schools, organizations, state systems, and individuals.
