I have been working with families and children for over 10 years, first in the education field and now in the mental health field. As an educator, I have worked in the Early Childhood Family Education program providing parents with information about child development and helping them connect to resources when they were stressed.
As a therapist, I focus on helping children and parents connect with each other as directly and completely as possible because I know that children who are well-connected to their parents have less internal worry and difficulty. I have worked in hospice, in therapeutic preschool, in a community mental health clinic and am now in private practice.
I have had significant training in Theraplay®, a short-term, attachment-based, play-focused intervention that creates opportunities for parents and children to connect in healthy, new ways. Theraplay uses fun, engaging activities to help children receive the structured and nurturing care from their parents they need to be able to try new experiences.
