OUR MISSION

At Foster Adopt Minnesota, our mission is to find and strengthen Minnesota adoptive, foster care and kinship families.  We do this by:

  • Raising AWARENESS about the need for families for Minnesota children.
  • Providing INFORMATION AND REFERRAL to those interested in becoming adoptive, foster care, and kinship care families.
  • Offering EDUCATION relevant to adoptive, foster and kinship families and the professionals that work with them.
  • Providing individualized SUPPORT, GUIDANCE and RESOURCES to foster, adoptive and kinship families.

OUR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND COMMITMENT TO EQUITY AND INCLUSION

At Foster Adopt Minnesota, we recognize that we work within systems that have caused and continue to cause harm to communities, especially those who are uniquely impacted within the child welfare system, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and families.

We are committed to supporting the building and nurturing of connections with the kinship, foster care, and adoption communities; first families; and the professionals who serve them. As an organization:

  • We acknowledge and honor the lived experiences and identities of the individuals and communities we serve.
  • We strive to do our part in repairing and reducing the impact of harm.
  • We help break down barriers within these communities and systems to increase equitable access to trauma-aware and culturally responsive resources and services.

These guiding values are reflected within our organizational culture and our professional relationships, and inform our efforts to provide an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment for all the communities we support.

If you share our values, mission and commitments, we’re excited to talk to you further about joining our team.

HIRING PROCESS

To be considered for an open position, please complete our online application* and submit your resume. We do not require a cover letter.  Within a week of receiving your materials, someone from our hiring team will reach out to confirm receipt of your application and provide an estimated timeline for next steps in the process.

*Our online application will only be available when we have a current position opening.

Our timeline for first interviews will vary depending on the number of applications received and schedule availability of our hiring team. Our goal is to have them scheduled within a week of the identified close date on the job posting.

Once we have confirmed the first interviews, candidates will receive a meeting link, a copy of the position description and handout with detailed information regarding benefits.

If you are invited for a first interview you will meet with the hiring manager and two other members of the hiring team.  This meeting will take about 60 minutes and will be focused on gaining an understanding of your general skills, experience, level of interest in the role, and any questions you may have.

Those who participate in the first interview should hear back about the next steps within 1-2 weeks.

We will schedule second interviews within a week of completing all first interviews, so this timing will vary depending on how quickly your first interview takes place.

If you participate in a second interview, you will be asked to provide references (though they won’t be contacted until after completion of second interview) and may have a written assignment, depending on the position you are being considered for. The second interview should include the same FAM staff you met during the first interview process, although the questions will be more focused on position-specific skills, including how you might approach certain job scenarios. Expect this second interview to last 60-90 minutes.

After the second interview, you should hear back within 1-2 weeks.

While most positions are filled after the completion of two interviews, we may occasionally request a third interview with top candidates to help us identify the best candidate for the position.

After the second interview, we will reach out to references for those candidates still under consideration. After talking to references, we will let you know if we would like to extend a job offer and will discuss salary and beginning employment date with you. Once an offer has been verbally accepted, we will send a formal offer letter.

Foster Adopt Minnesota has a salary structure that takes into consideration position responsibilities and candidate qualifications, with the goal of compensating all our employees equitably in a way that can be supported by our budget.  For this reason, we do not negotiate starting salary.
